Cookie policy – Racingtipshub.com
Reading racing and betting pages on Racingtipshub.com needs only a small set of technical tools. This policy names the cookies and similar technologies in use, their purpose, and the ways to refuse or change them. A cookie is a small text file kept by a browser on a device; local and session storage entries and counting pixels behave in much the same way.
Consent and the law
Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR) governs here. Storing information on a user’s device, or gaining access to what is already stored, calls for clear and comprehensive information and the user’s consent, unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service the user asked for. Consent must reach the UK GDPR standard in Article 4(11) and Article 7: freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous and as easy to withdraw as to give. Where cookies lead to processing of personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply too.
Set without a choice
Some files are needed for the site to run reliably: they keep a session open, share load between servers, guard forms against abuse and store the cookie choice itself. No separate choice is asked for these. Session files vanish when the browser closes, and the stored choice lasts no longer than twelve months.
Set only after consent
Functional files remember settings, for example the racing tables last opened. Analytics files count page views and show which pages are read, so that content can be improved. Both kinds are set only once consent is given in the cookie banner. IP addresses are shortened before analysis, and no profile that follows behaviour across sites is built.
Outside services
An embedded video or map from another provider can set files of its own, and that provider’s privacy rules then apply; objections go to the provider. Racingtipshub.com sets no advertising cookies for personalised ads unless the consent banner clearly offers that choice.
Changing or withdrawing consent
The “Cookie settings” link in the footer allows consent to be changed or withdrawn at any time. Withdrawal works for the future and leaves earlier processing lawful. Browsers also let a user block and delete cookies in their settings. Once the necessary files are deleted the banner returns, and some features may briefly stop working.
Complaints
A complaint about personal data handling can go to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the supervisory authority in the UK. How personal data is processed is explained in the privacy policy of this site.
